Dear Families,
We had a wonderful time playing in the “Pumpkin Patch." The children were raking hay, walking and running through the hay maze, jumping off hay bales, playing with pumpkins, and pushing wheelbarrows. The children enjoyed filling the wheelbarrows with pumpkins and corn. This, of course, made the wheelbarrows very tricky to balance as they attempted to push them around the play yard. It was very cute to see and the children had a great time.
Baking was a big hit in our classroom! We made corn muffins and apple crisp. Each child had a turn to pour and stir the ingredients. Our days revolved around pumpkins and apples. Some of our highlights have been: creating a jack-o-lantern, playing with plastic pumpkins and sand in our sensory table, creating apple prints, painting on pumpkin shaped paper at the easel, and playing with pumpkin scented play doh. We read some great stories:
Five Little Pumpkins
Brown Bear, Brown Bear, What do you see?
Pumpkin, Pumpkin
We enjoyed some Halloween festivities, as well. Several of our moms provided some great Halloween stories, crafts, a delicious snack, and a goody bag to go. A big thanks to the mothers of Spencer, Haynes, and Sophie!
Warmly, Kelly and Susan
