Dear Parents,
The children have been busy with gingerbread activities these last two weeks of school. We have read many different versions of the fairy tale of the gingerbread man. We have read these stories, The Gingerbread Baby, The Gingerbread Girl, The Gingerbread Friends, The Gingerbread Boy, and The Gingerbread Girl Went Animal Crackers.
The class got to decorate some wreaths and make gingerbread people of their own at our holiday class party. Thank you to all who supplied the activities, food, decorations, music, and help.
We made some gingerbread dough to play with and in the sensory table got to smell the spices mixed in with the flour for some hands on fun. After reading the Gingerbread baby we went looking for the babies around the school there were ten hiding. We caught them all.
We are going to act out the fairy tale today. We hope you all have a nice vacation and enjoy the holidays.

Dear Parents,
Thank you for coming to parent’s night. We hope the night helped explain what we do on a daily basis in the classroom and that the night gave you insight on our goals and objectives for the year. November is here. It’s hard to believe the children have been in school for two months. We will continue with lessons that help foster their social skills such as listening, manners, self-control, sharing, and being safe.
We will be discussing what the meaning of being thankful is all about. It’s a hard word for them to understand. At meeting times we will give examples of what they have to be thankful for, such as having food, homes, family, friends, etc. The class will be making their own thankful books in the next three weeks and will bring them home before the holiday. They can share the books with you and hopefully gain a better understanding of what being thankful is all about by making this book.
The mystery reader has started to circulate and the children had fun trying to figure out who was reading the book. The sharing bag is circulating as well so keep a look out for it in your child’s school bag.
We welcome you to share family traditions, or if you ever want to come in and visit, our door is always open.
Thanks,
Jeanne & Janet
Please remember to check the extra clothes boxes.
Dear Parents, September 2011
We are almost through our first week of school. Our main goal right now is for the children to separate and feel safe and happy in the classroom. Our second goal is for them to know the other children’s and teachers’ names and begin to interact with one another.
We have a meeting at the beginning of the day. During this meeting we learn each other’s names by singing songs that incorporate the children’s names with movement to go along with the song. At this time we also read inviting stories hoping to entice the children to join in meeting time.
Some other goals we will be working on are sharing, getting along, listening, learning the routine of the day and following directions.
Next week, we will be doing activities that center around apples. If you have any apple books feel free to let your child bring them in to share.
Thanks,
Jeanne & Janet
