Supporting PIFS
Private schools rely on fundraising to cover their costs and Putnam Indian Field School is no exception. Tuition alone does not cover the cost of educating our children. In fact, tuition makes up only about 80% of our operating budget, leaving the remaining 20% to endowment allocations, investment income and fundraising. Contributions from our parents are an essential source of income for the school. The generosity and support of our families over the last 35 years are what have allowed PIFS to attain its position of academic excellence and financial soundness.
Your contributions to PIFS are an essential resource for funding the school’s expenses, such as:
- Teacher benefits (health insurance and retirements plans) which allow the school to attract and retain our exceptional faculty
- Scholarships
- Capital expenses to maintain and enhance the school’s incredible facilities. Items have recently included the school’s new HVAC system, construction of the science wing and a new roof.
- Operating expenses not covered by tuition
Fundraising at PIFS falls into two categories:
- The Auction: The auction is held in November of each year and is planned and run by volunteer parents. This year’s auction, "Bollywood Night at Putnam!," was held on November 5, 2011 at the Burning Tree Country Club.
- Annual Giving Fund: Parents are invited to contribute to the Annual Giving Fund. We hope that all parents will join this important annual effort in any way that they can. Fred Weirdsma, the school’s director of development, heads up this effort.
